The McDonnell Douglas F-15D/DJ Eagle is a two-seat version of the F-15C/J Eagle air superiority fighter used by the US Air Force and the Japan Air Self-Defense Force as a successor to the F-4. Although it is a two-seat version, the only difference is a slight increase in weight; the flight performance and weapons systems are almost identical to the single-seat version. For this reason, it can be used not only for its original mission of pilot conversion training, but also as a two-seat fighter with dual controls for air superiority combat and ground attack. The F-15E Strike Eagle is a further development of the F-15's fighter-bomber capabilities .
