1/72 S-3A Viking

The Lockheed S-3A Viking was the world's first carrier-based jet anti-submarine patrol aircraft, adopted by the U.S. Navy as a successor to the Grumman S-2 Tracker.

The S-3A is equipped with state-of-the-art anti-submarine equipment, including the APS-116 radar, infrared detector, retractable magnetic anomaly detector, active sonar system, and ECM (Electronic Countermeasures) system . It can also carry four homing torpedoes or depth charges in its fuselage bomb bay, and various bombs, rockets, and flares can be mounted on underwing pylons. Furthermore, it has an extendable aerial refueling probe above the cockpit, and its wings and vertical stabilizer can be folded hydraulically.

Deployment began in 1975, and the aircraft is deployed to 12 squadrons.
Derivatives of the S-3A include the US-3A, which was modified as a liaison transport aircraft between aircraft carriers and bases, and the S-3B, an improved version with added capability to operate AGM-84 Harpoon missiles.
