The Sikorsky SH-60B Seahawk is a multi-purpose helicopter adopted by the U.S. Navy as part of LAMPS Mk.3 (Third Multi-Purpose Light Aircraft System). Developed for carrier operations
based on the Army's UH-60A Black Hawk , it features modifications such as increased engine power, a folding rotor blade mechanism, and a shortened wheelbase, and is equipped with the necessary equipment and electronics for carrier operations. Its primary missions are ASW (Anti-Submarine Warfare) and ASST (Anti-Ship Search and Response), and it is also active in search and rescue and various transport operations. The first Seahawk squadron was HSL-41, formed in 1984.
