The Sikorsky SH-60J Seahawk is the next-generation anti-submarine helicopter adopted by the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force as a successor to the HSS-2 Sea King.
The SH-60J is based on the SH-60B multi-purpose helicopter used by the U.S. Navy.
Anti-submarine warfare equipment is developed and deployed domestically to suit Japan's anti-submarine operations.
Compared to the HSS-2, it is slightly smaller and the crew size has been streamlined from four to three.
