Touring Car Chassis

The Yokomo Rookie Speed RS2.0 features a lightweight molded resin chassis designed to provide a balanced and durable platform for touring car driving. Its straightforward handling characteristics make the RS2.0 approachable for beginners while still providing a solid foundation for more experienced drivers. An aluminum motor mount supports both brushed and brushless motors, while the battery holder securely accommodates 2S LiPo batteries.

Optimized Drivetrain

The RS2.0 uses a two-belt drive system with equal-length front and rear belts to provide a balanced, predictable driving feel. This configuration contributes to the car's straightforward handling characteristics, making it easier to control through corners and during changes in throttle input. Front and rear gear differentials help distribute drive through the drivetrain, while universal drive shafts maintain efficient power transfer as the suspension moves and the steering is operated. Combined with the durable chassis design, the drivetrain provides a dependable foundation for both sports driving and touring car racing.

Suspension & Updated Shocks

This special version of the RS2.0 receives a significant suspension upgrade with an aluminum short-shock conversion and 3.5mm-thick graphite shock towers at both the front and rear. The high-precision aluminum shock cylinders provide smooth shock operation, helping absorb sudden inputs and vibrations to maintain tire grip. The shorter shocks and rigid graphite towers also improve cornering stability, particularly when decelerating at the end of a straight or turning into tighter corners. By firmly supporting the shocks, the graphite towers help maximize the effectiveness of the springs and dampers, allowing the suspension to absorb impacts while maintaining a more controlled response. Adjustable turnbuckle upper arms and tie rods provide additional suspension tuning capability for dialing in camber and toe-in.
